This past Saturday was the Super14 final and Soweto was transfixed into shades of Blue. It was a historic occasion with it be the 1st time a Rugby final was held in a "formerly so called black" neighbourhood. It is best said that sports bridges cultural differences in a way that no politician can and to see the Bull fans so humbled by their new hallow turf known as the Orlando Stadium. It was therefore fitting that the Bulls won the Super 14 final. This was a good spectacle and a taste of what is to come when the World cup starts in a couple of days time, people from across all walks of life coming together to support their favourite team. Sadly the team I support lost, but there is always next year :).
On Sunday the Turkish grand prix was basically controlled by Redbull from the start of the race till near the end when an over zealous Vettel tried an overtaking maneuver that cost him the race and his partner being relegated to 3rd place. it ended up with Mclaren finishing one and two.
To finish the Sunday was cricket, in the first game of the day, Sri Lanka took on India in Zimbabwe, it was not a high scoring match and it did little to attract new fans. The game was won by India in the 41st over.
The next game was between South Africa and West Indies, with South Africa already having sealed the series, they decided to Rest Dale Steyn and give JP Duminy another go. Beiung in the form of his life Hashim Amla scored his 2nd ton of the series at more than run a ball and was ably assisted by the likes of Smith, Kallis and De Villiers. South Africa look destined to reach the total 304 with some overs to spare, but with the departure of Amla, a conservative approach was adopted and needing a handful of runs from the final over they scratched there way to to 304 off the last ball of the game. They currently lead the 5 match series 4-0.
I also felt the urge to be patriotic so I bought my SA flag and mirror covers for my car and felt very good driving to work this morning.
Any have a fabulous day, until next we meet.

Unbelievable
I know I said I will only comment on sport stories but felt the need to share this, it is truly unbelievable, and very hard to believe.

Wow, if a husband believes this then he is from another planet altogether.

Change of direction
I have decided to only blog about sport as this is what I am passionate about and it is what consumes most of my free time.
So lets start of with a shocker, taken from What was Venus Williams thinking when she stepped on to the court wearing a nightie(Dunno the word for it, think it is negligee)

Dunno how much tennis the men watched cause that for me is distasteful attire for tennis, keep it in the bedroom, and she is nogal wearing flesh coloured tights. You be the judge, wet dream material or nightmarish.
Overcoming the disappointment of the World T20 Championship was hard with Graham Smith getting so angry that he had a go on Twitter with his critics wanting to know where their winners' medals were, he has a point and 'ol Albie tweets that you gotta love us armchair critics, offcourse you do, without us there'd be no cricket unless Supersport will televise games in empty stadiums day in and day out.
Anyway, the tour of West Indies started on a positive note, with the Proteas winning 4 on a trot. Although AB has faltered a bit behind the stumps, it is nothing he cannot work on, this has given the team some options, whether to play an extra batsman or bowler. I am a great JP fan as he was representing the ouens from the flats, but I am glad he got dropped as his form over the past 12 months has been lacking and I have run out of excuses to support his place in the team.
I am looking forward to the rest of the matches and hopefully another 5-0 drubbing of the WI (ala 2005) is on the cards.
Bafana Bafana has shown great improvement since coming back from their training camps in Brazil and Germany, with a 4-0 thrashing of lowly Thailand and an impressive draw with a fancied Bulgarian team, looking forward to the Columbian match at Soccer City which I will be attending.
Heading into the Weekend, he highlight has to be the Super 14 Final between the the Orlando Bulls and the Stormers, my heart would want the Stormers to win but I think the Bulls have the edge. They have been playing the more attacking rugby all season and I think the Stormers will play a defensive game as that is their strength and counter by winning turn-overs and loose balls from the rucks.
For the Formula 1 fans, it is the Turkish Grand Prix on Sunday and I am wondering if any team has the ability to stop the juggernaut that is Redbull Racing. On a personal note, I am glad there is no longer a 2 horse race between Ferrari and Mclaren Mercedes.
Let me end this session with a quote from Michael Holding and what he thinks of 20 over cricket as he does not rate players who excel only in this format:
"Pollard, in my opinion, is not a cricketer"
Bet he cannot say it to his face with a smile :)
I am outta here

Patience
Lately I think I have become very impatient and this is causing me lots of headache and heartache.
Every night I sit down with my daughter to assist her with her homework and then I go through words she needs to learn for her spelling test on a Friday.
I seem to get very agitated when she cannot remember how to spell the words as I am expecting her to know it as it does not seem so hard to learn.
Last night I just told her if she does not want to learn she can go to bed as she was struggling to remember the spelling of certain words. She then started crying which made me feel bad but I was in foul mood because I felt that I was trying and she was not. She kept on saying sorry daddy I did not mean to make you cross, I will try to do better.
I have always held the belief if I show someone how to do things it should just come naturally and every person I train should be able to do what I can and I get frustrated if I've shown someone something and they still f it up and now I am treating my little 6 year old daughter the same and it is eating me up from the inside.
Hopefully I will learn some patience and tolerance Insha'alla so as not to make my daughter get withdrawn from society as I know what not having faith in ones ability can do to ones confidence.
Anyway here is to Stormers, Liverpool and Everton winning this weekend, I hope you have a stunning long weekend.
Attending my daughters sports day on Monday, should be fun.

Little Voices should be heard
My daughter is currently in Grade 1 and yesterday she asked her Islamic Studies Appa( Teacher) if she could go to the toilet as she needed to relive herself. Her teacher said "no, you should go during the intervals" after which my daughter who could no longer "knuip" proceeded to shit herself.
The teacher did not call my wife or report the incident, instead my daughter was left in that state till school ended at 2:15 pm.
My daughter felt embarrassed and humiliated, yes breaks are there to go to the bathroom, but what if the need is not there at that time, should you will the shit to come out in that way hurting your stomach further?
When I got home last night my wife was in titanic rage because she could not get to the teacher as the teacher leaves at 1:30pm and conveniently does not come in on a Friday.
If I had my way, I would remove my daughter from that school even if it is one of the better schools in the area, but seeing that finding another school will be quite difficult at this juncture she will have to stick it out there. My wife has a meeting with the Deputy at the school and hopefully this will be resolved and kids in the lower grades will be given the benefit of the doubt when they say the need to go to the loo.
On a brighter note, the IPL is starting today and this year I will be supporting the Mumbai indians, not that I have any preference as to which team wins as long as good cricket is being played.
Can you believe we are into week 5 of the Super 14 already, time has certainly not stood still. I am hoping the Stormers have a good season this time around, it looks promising even though the Bulls seems to be the team to beat, being on top of the log only after 3 games played while most of the other teams have played 4 games.
Formula 1 season also kicks off this weekend, lets see if Schumie will have a good comeback or a rude awakening. Hope its the latter.
With the English premiership drawing to a close the race for Europe is heating up, Everton, the team I support has had a good run of late so hopefully they can push for the final place in Europe.
Well I have not blogged in a while and trying to link this blog to my domain but having a few difficulties, hopefully that will be resolved soon as well.
Till next time
Au revoir

Jumuah Mubarak to one and all
I have not blogged in a while because of a lack of self motivation I guess. Well I hope the new year will be a prosperous one.
My daughter started Grade 1 this year which I am proud of, pic of her first day below :)

I hope and pray she has a successful schooling year ahead and learns to her full potential Insha'alla.
Now I watch sport religiously but my favourite sport is cricket, I am obsessed with it. I am very patriotic when it comes to the South African side. So anyone who talks shit about the players in the team and why they are in the team usually ends up in an argument with the person querying the players ability.
Yes some players had a bad test series against England, that does not mean they are bad players, everyone goes through a lean period, ask Jacques Kallis and Ricky Ponting. Players grow to become better when they hit these lean periods.
Now there is a whole debacle about the coach and the selectors being fired and no matter what CSA says I personally feel that it was because there was no player of African descent in the team for the last two test matches.
Hopefully the team will go to India and do us proud when they take on The No1 side in the world on their home turf.
I wish Corrie, Kepler and the whole SA team luck, I will be watching every game, lets just hope my wife does not complain too much :)
That is all for now, will blog some more when I feel inspired or bored :)
